Manchester Diamonds Cheerleading Squad CIC is a non profit organisation. We provide opportunites for cheerleaders to train twice weekly and perform in regular events and competitions. We work on various disciplines including cheer, stunts, gymnastics, street cheer and pom/cheer dance. Our main training venue is in Blackley, North Manchester although we have one street cheer class at Belle Vue Leisure Centre.
Manchester Diamonds Cheerleading Squad CIC aims to improve wellbeing, health and fitness, team spirit, new skills and good behaviour through cheerleading. All members are encouraged to shine as individuals and work hard to achieve as a team.
Manchester Diamonds was founded by Sara Ashpital.
" I became self employed in 2004 teaching fitness for different groups of children, they chose their own activities ranging from kick boxing to dance. In 2005 a strong interest in cheerleading was apparent, they were really excited about it so that's where it all started. I have thrived to develop my own skills since then to improve the team. My qualifications and training can be found on our meet the team page"
In 2006 Diamonds was born! Starting with a small community group and now reaching around 100 young people every week with 10 classes a week. Diamonds have performed at many local events, shows and festivals. We have entered 20 different competitions since then with various results right through to 1st place. Our team acolades are listed to the right of this page but the real benefits are shown through individual achievements. Each and every member is special to us, they are bombarded with praise and positivity, this teamed with being encouraged to realise their talents and dreams, improves self esteem and confidence.
In 2009 we became a Social Enterprise and are now a Commmunity Interest Company, registered with Companies House as a Company Limited by Guarantee run by 3 directors supported by a small but dedicated committee. Sara, Lorielle and Donna now coach the squad. Please contact us if you would like to help us in any way.
Please contact us if you would like to join we will then see if there is currently a space for the appropriate group. To add your details to the waiting list or to ask us a question Please click here (Name of parent, name of child, DoB, address, phone, mobile, experience in dance, cheer or gymnastics.)
We cater for all ages and abilities. Please see our meet the team page for session times but here is a brief overview of the classes
Our gymnastics classes are available to all who are interested in joining Manchester Diamonds and will help to develop important skills for cheerleading. Gymnastics help improve strenth, stamina and flexibilty with a stong focus on tumbling skills. The cheerleaders learn everything from forward rolls and cartwheels through to flips and walkovers to use in cheer routines.
The main element of the class is building on stunts and pyramids. These are taught step by step by qualified stunts coaches to ensure safety. Stunts involve teamwork, lifting, throwing, catching, holding and linking together.
